St. Elmo Village: Keep The Arts Accessible to All

Worldplay Foundation's partner, St. Elmo Village, is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that was established in Los Angeles in 1969, supporting and growing the arts in L.A. for over 45 incredible years through free children's art workshops, educational and cultural events, annual children's book giveaways and music festivals.

Some of you have grown with St. Elmo through the years and have seen the impact the organization has made in the community. Just as they have been there for you, we hope you can be there for them to help them continue their awesome work.

St. Elmo Village is excited to finally launch its Crowdrise crowdfunding campaign. Their goal is to collect $45,000 this year to allow the organization to continue and improve upon its programs. Additionally, their facilities are 50 to 100 years old. Campaign funds will help the organization renovate its historic buildings so as to serve the community for another 45 years!

Keeping creativity accessible to everyone is vital, and is why we at Worldplay Ventures commissioned our partners at Social Intrapreneurs to produce St. Elmo's Video. We are now asking you to help with the in the form of a small donation. Any amount, even a small one, would mean the world. Donate today & support the life-changing power of creativity. We thank you in advance for your support.

Scalechange: New Social Media Platform Facilitates Consumer Citizenship

“People have lost faith in major institutions like business and government,” said Scalechange CEO Ben Miller. “They would prefer to hear CSR messaging from companies themselves. While everyone wants to go green, many fall victim to corporate greenwashing. Fortunately, there’s an app for that now.”

Silicon Valley start-up Scalechange has announced a suite of digital products aimed at connecting socially conscious consumers with the causes they care about. $calechange is a new form of financial credit that allows companies to make a positive impact while empowering their customers with the choice of causes that are supported. It is designed to help usher along the radical economic shift toward social and environmental accountability that the planet demands, bringing together companies, consumers and causes into a cycle of good with the power to take humanity to great new heights!

Scalechange facilitates citizenship in the business sector by engaging everyday people with corporate social responsibility (CSR) and empowering them as consumer citizens and crowd-philanthropists. Consumers are not yet equipped with impact data on each company. even if we were there is a prohibitive premium on ethical products. Scalechange allows consumers to identify which companies share our values and receive rebates when we shop with them.

This summer Scalechange launched two alpha websites: Commonstake, a user generated rating system for non-profits, and Crowdwill, a crowdfunding platform.

Commonstake is the Better Business Bureau of the digital age — a social website with user generated ratings that close the gap between people who want to shop ethically but can’t due to misleading marketing messages. Commonstake provides consumers with transparency and the ability to rate Fortune 500 and B Corp businesses on different sustainability metrics such as environmental standards, social quality and governance. Users can submit articles and information about these companies and keep everyone in the community informed. In turn, the rated companies will be allowed to respond to and engage with consumers. The app includes features for companies such as advertising, branded content on company pages, analytics and access to the user generated ratings.

Crowdwill™ is a crowd-funding platform where users choose charitable initiatives to fund, out of pocket, or through special rebates from our partner companies. Users can donate to charitable campaigns, in which needs and impact are uniquely transparent. Rather than donate contribute out of pocket, consumers can redeem $calechange™, earned on Commonstake, through donation credits that can be redeemed on ¢rowdwill™.
